U.S. calls for ban on in-car Facebook, Twitter [Bloomberg] The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released its guidelines for how it thinks automakers should design in-car entertainment systems, calling for banning access to Facebook and Twitter while driving along with other Internet browsing, 10-digit phone dialing and the ability to enter addresses manually unless the car is in park. Since these are guidelines only, the auto industry is free to ignore them â?? and since technical updates can take years to filter through models, they will likely have little effect.
