Wrangler vs Bronco Sport - The Basics

The long, distinguished history of the Jeep Wrangler has allowed the vehicle to build a substantial library of configuration options. From size to powertrain to other features, Wrangler drivers can truly find the configuration that is best for them. As a newer model, however, the Bronco offers a more limited slate of customizations.

Most Bronco Sport models use a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine making 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. Drivers seeking more power can upgrade to the top-level Badlands trim, which uses a two-liter inline-four with 250 horsepower and 277 pound-feet. The Wrangler, however, starts with a 3.6-liter V6 producing 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet. Available engines on the Jeep include a three-liter diesel with 442 pound-feet of torque or the 4xe plug-in hybrid. Neither diesel nor plug-in options are available on the Bronco Sport.

Due to its more extensive history of success, the Wrangler has developed other options and features which the Bronco Sport does not yet have. For example, while the Bronco Sport offers a 4x4 system, the Wrangler lineup includes three different varieties of four-wheel drive. Also, while the top-trim Bronco Sport Badlands has a rear locking differential, the Wrangler offers both front and rear locking differentials on multiple trims throughout the lineup.

Wrangler vs Bronco Sport - Design

The Wrangler and the Bronco Sport both boast a rugged, outdoors-focused design with removable doors and roof. Both vehicles offer an interior that is easy to clean, with durable materials such as rubber available on many trims. Yet here again, the Wrangler is designed with more choices for Simpsonville residents looking for their perfect off-road SUV.

Unlike the Bronco Sport, the Wrangler offers both two-door and four-door models. While the two-door Wrangler is the most classic design, related most directly to the vehicle's roots, the four-door version provides additional options for Greer families. And while the Bronco Sport provides drivers an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen, the Wrangler gives drivers a choice of three different screen sizes.

Of course, both the Ford and the Jeep SUV recognize that some drivers prefer a finer air to their vehicles. Leather-trimmed seats are available on the Outer Banks model of the Bronco Sport. However, the Wrangler offers drivers multiple varieties of leather trim, such as the McKinley leather on the Sahara or the Nappa leather on the High Altitude.
