The most obvious difference between the Grand Cherokee and the Grand Cherokee L is the third row of seating on the latter model. Yet the expanded passenger capacity and consequent size increase of the Grand Cherokee L hardly scratch the surface of how unique the vehicle truly is.

These differences are readily apparent at first sight. The 2021 Grand Cherokee L uses a new design architecture based on that of the Wagoneer models. This new style is not expected to hit the standard Grand Cherokee until 2022.

The Grand Cherokee L shares its powertrains and performance capabilities with the standard Grand Cherokee. For example, both vehicles boast a 7,200-pound maximum towing capacity on an available 5.7-liter V8 engine. Yet the Grand Cherokee L offers some updated performance assists, including three four-wheel drive systems and a new independent air suspension.

2021 JeepⓇ Grand Cherokee L Interior Offerings

Perhaps the most significant difference between the Grand Cherokee L and the standard Grand Cherokee is the interior of each vehicle. Besides the three rows of seats, the Grand Cherokee L offers unique materials and useful safety systems for Anderson drivers inside.

The infotainment system on the 2021 Grand Cherokee L is powered by an updated UConnect 5 system running on an 8.4-inch touchscreen. While the standard 2021 Grand Cherokee considers the 8.4-inch screen an extra-cost upgrade on some trim levels, the larger screen is the base offering on the Grand Cherokee L. The three-row machine provides a 10.1-inch touchscreen as its extra upgrade.

The Grand Cherokee L and the standard Grand Cherokee both offer a large variety of driver assistance features. However, many features which are an extra-cost upgrade on the two-row model come standard on the three-row vehicle. In fact, JeepⓇ intends to offer Level 2 self-driving on the Grand Cherokee L in the very near future.
