Wagoneer vs Tahoe: Power and Towing
The 2022 Chevy Tahoe has a trio of engine options, which makes the buying process a tad more complicated. The base engine is a 5.3L V8 engine that makes 355 horsepower while guzzling gas. The other gasoline-powered option is a 6.2L V8 that gets 420 ponies, but that is even thirstier than the 5.3L engine. The former gets 17 miles to the gallon combined, with the latter scoring just 16. The Tahoe also has a diesel option, a 3.0L turbocharged engine that makes 277 horsepower.
The Wagoneer does have pretty comparable gas mileage ratings to the Tahoe. It comes with a 5.7L V8 that makes 391 horsepower. The Wagoneer gets 17 miles to the gallon combined. It does, however, offer more bang for your buck: a properly equipped Wagoneer can tow up to 10,000 pounds, while the Tahoe tops out at 8,400. That 1,600 pound difference can be the difference between taking the family boat along, and not.
Wagoneer vs Tahoe: Comfort and Technology
The front seat of the 2022 Wagoneer is simply nicer to sit in than that of the 2022 Tahoe. The dashboard sits lower in the Wagoneer, while the seat itself is slightly higher than the Tahoe's. Between this configuration and the larger windows, the Wagoneer feels roomier for the driver.
The folks who pile into the back of the Wagoneer will also have a roomier experience. The third row in the Wagoneer has 36.6" of legroom, which is 1.7" more than one finds in the Tahoe. The Wagoneer also has enough space to haul 27.4 cubic feet of cargo behind the third row, which beats out the Tahoe's 25.5 cubes by almost 2 whole cubic feet. That's the size of a small carry-on!
The Wagoneer also comes with better standard technology. Even the base model has a 10.3" digital gauge cluster and a 10.1" touchscreen display. The base Tahoe, by comparison, has analog gauges and an 8.0" touchscreen. Both vehicles do feature cell phone compatibility, allowing you or your passengers to play music and control navigation from your own devices. The heated and cooled front seats on the Wagoneer are just the cherry on top of this figurative sundae.
